Public warning and alert system for Austria

The efficiency of first responder organizations in crisis and disaster situations can be greatly improved by providing timely and accurate information to the general population. However, the current technical architecture for public warning and alerting in Austria via sirens and the national broadcasting companies does not suffice for providing geo-specific information to the population in real time. To this end, the PASA project proposes a new concept for public warning and alerting in Austria, which will include the requirements of all relevant stakeholders via an interdisciplinary systems engineering process. This will ensure optimal reach, acceptance and efficiency of public warning and alert messages, enabling PASA to substantially contribute to public safety in Austria for a broad spectrum of crisis and disaster scenarios in the years to come.
