State-of-the-art development infrastructure for integrated electronic and optical design including EMC and ESD - open to industrial partners.

Our first-class research infrastructure for electronics development and validation is available for collaboration with partners from business and industry.

What infrastructure is available in the MATERIALS electronics laboratory?

  • Vector network analyser for determining the transmission characteristics of filters, amplifiers or antennas from 9 kHz to 6.5 GHz
  • Spectrum analysers for common radio and communication standards from 10 Hz to 7 GHz
  • Signal generator from 9 kHz to 6 GHz at high output powe
  • Oscilloscopes for analysis and recording of signals up to 4 GHz
  • Table multimeters with 6 ½ digits and up to 1000 measurements per second
  • LCR meter for precise measurement of complex resistances
  • Source Measure Units with a resolution of 10 fA
  • EMV equipment incl. a TEM-cell for measuring radiated emissions and immunity in a shielded tent
  • Temperature test cabinet for testing from -70°C until +180°C at 3500 W heat compensation in a room of 650 x 720 x 750 mm
  • Thermodynamic design using simulations and data loggers with simultaneous recording of 40 temperatures
  • Thermal camera with 640 x 480 pixel and 9 Hz
  • Altium Designer as all-inclusive software for schematic, printed circuit board, documentation, simulation and 3D model for manufacturing
  • Design environments to configure Xilinx or Intel PSG (Altera) FPGAs for fast signal processing
  • MATLAB, GNU Octave and Simulink for data analysis, algorithm development and system modeling
  • Electronic switch for micro interruptions in supply and ground lines up to 100 A
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) simulator for immunity testing in compliance with EN/IEC 61000-4-2 and ISO 10605, up to 30 kV
  • Appliance tester for testing in accordance with EN 50678 and EN 50699
