What is the MALA laser system?

The unique, high-precision MALA laser system was designed and built at our MATERIALS institute. Micro-optical structures are produced here in a specially adapted laser laboratory in air-conditioned and pre-cleaned air.

MALA stands for "maskless laser lithography", a technology that offers many advantages over classic mask-based photolithography. With MALA, you can produce sub-micrometre structures on planar and curved surfaces at low cost and with a high throughput.

The biggest advantage of MALA is its flexibility when it comes to design changes. Changes are unavoidable during the test phase of a structuring. With MALA, you can make these changes quickly and cost-effectively.
