European Robotics Forum 2024

This year, the European Robotics Forum (ERFtook place from 12-15 March in sunny Rimini, Italy. Our experts in safe human-robot collaboration Clara Fischer and Michael Rathmair were invited to present their research at the workshop "Safety at mixed collaborative and non-coll. Robot applications" together with Cecilia Scoccia (Polytechnic University of Marche). They focussed on the potentials and challenges of new possibilities of human-robot collaborations. This topic was motivated by the fact that collaborative applications can consist of collaborative and non-collaborative tasks in the future. This opens up new possibilities for flexible production. At the same time, it should not be forgotten that these innovations also pose new challenges for personal safety. A separate paper presentation by Clara Fischer discussed how personalised safety for operators can be implemented in the future.

In addition to many other interesting workshops and presentations, the main focus was on the top 5 robotics trends at the IFR: https://ifr.org/ifr-press-releases/news/top-5-robot-trends-2024 .

We are already looking forward to attending next year's ERF in Stuttgart, Germany from 1-3 April.
